Not 100% sure on what we do?
This post is going to change that!
Here at The Education Development Service we work with schools and colleges nationwide to support students and aid their development in both the academic and working world.
Currently we have two main centres that offer a range of different programmes to cater for a range of different interests and student ability levels.
Our Stourbridge Centre.
The bigger of our two centres, Stourbridge caters for the Black Country and it’s surrounding area’s.
Offering various courses including functional skills, numeracy and literacy, hair and beauty and construction courses. Our programmes give the opportunity for students to leave the Education Development Service with a nationally recognized qualification in a vocation of their choice as well as gaining valuable work experience.
Our Horsehay Centre.
Our Horsehay centre caters for the Telford & Wrekin borough. Here at the centre students can enrol on three different courses.
SEEDS (School Engagement with the Education Development Service.)
This programme allows students who struggle in main stream schools to bring work set by the school into the centre. Allowing the student to study in a smaller environment where one on one time is more achievable. Students on this programme are assisted with their school projects, coursework and exam revision by our on site tutors. This programme also offers students the opportunity to study and sit their numeracy and literacy qualifications.
The springboard programme works on building students work skills, numeracy and literacy and confidence with the end goal securing the student a work placement in a vocation of their choice two days a week for a prolonged period of time.
This programme works well for those students who wish to gain college entry, apprenticeship placements and full time jobs upon leaving school.
The Turnaround Project.
Much like the Springboard programme, The Turnaround Project offers support to older students (16-18 years of age) who have dropped “off the radar.”
For teenagers who are not in education, employment or training this programme gets the student back into the swing of learning, working and earning!
Our other programmes.
We also offer various programmes around the country that are not based at any of our centres.
The Lift Project.
The lift project works closely with schools who want to gain valuable work experience placements for it’s students. EDS secure a student a work placement in the students area of interest for up to five days a week for a continuous amount of time (six weeks plus.) This develops students CVs, work experience and gives them a taste of whether college, apprenticeship’s or full time employment is the best option for them.
Our courses are always developing, changing and continuously expanding depending on our students needs. If you want to know more contact us on 01952 630710 or drop Verity an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Turnaround Project.

If you are currently 16 to 18 years old, not in education, employement or training this programme is perfect for you!
We will help you gain qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy, support you with college applications, apprenticeships and work experience.
Gain cash incentives for good attendance!

Seeing as the news of the Pope seems to be in the forefront of our news as of late, our ‘Seeds’ students have delved into the world of religion in a bid to spruce up our display wall and learn more about various beliefs and religions all over the world.
Our new cohort of 16-18 year old Turnaround students start today. We still have a few spaces so if you are or know someone who is currently not in education or training and is between the ages of 16-18 years old, give us a call on 01952 630710 for more information about the benefits this course could have for you.
The HMV Project.
Here’s a little glance at a project our 14-16 year old ‘Seeds’ and ‘Springboard’ programme students have been working on.
Taking inspiration from the sad news of a British retailing giant HMV, our students decided to pick their favourite stores and brands and create a comparison chart of the instore shopping experience vs. the online shopping experience.
A sort of SHOPPING WARS if you will!
The picture above just shows a glimpse of the students planning into area’s to look into and develop for the final review.
Our students would love to hear your thoughts on the online vs instore shopping…
Shopping bags at the ready…LET THE DEBATE COMMENCE.
The ‘Kicks’ Project.
Here’s a project our 14-16 year old Seeds and Springboard students are really proud of. It’s a little something we like to call ’The Kick’s Project.’
We believe our students imaginations are infinite and for those who show a flare for arts & design this is the perfect way to let those imaginations fly and CREATE.
Using a combination of key skills this project allows the students to develop their creative side whilst honing their organizational skills, along side mathematical development and entrepreneurial spirit.
Starting with a business plan our students delved into the world of product production. Researching target markets, profit margins and development costs before putting pencil to paper and sketching their very own ‘Kicks.’
Last but not least… the one way ticket to craft mania! The students took their facts, figures and sketches and just like any other entrepreneur they brought their designs to life with their very own prototype. As I’m sure you can imagine it was a whirlwind of glitter, glue, marker pens and anything else they could get their hands on!
As you can see from the pictures their planning and hardwork paid off.
Well, we’d wear them. Wouldn’t you?
Over and out.

Here are a few snap shots of our Telford centre.
Based in Horsehay this centre caters for three of our programs, Springboard, Seeds and Turnaround, with pupils attending from all over the Telford & Wrekin area.
The centre includes two classroom’s, an I.T. Suite and a HUGE Recreational centre, including a pool table (a popular favourite with the students at break time!) a football court and various vending machines (a popular favourite with the staff!)
Signing off for now!
